Contoh Soal Analyzing Procedural Texts , Food and Beverages RecipesIn daily interaction, we sometimes need to explain how to do something or give some explanations to others on how to do something. To assure that the explanation is clear, we have to convey our intention carefully in an acceptable way or method. To tell someone how to do something in written, we usually use procedural text.
Procedural texts can be found in many sources such as electronic equipment manuals, recipe books, etc. All of them have one similarity –telling someone how to do something step by step. So, when we are going to explain how to do something such as in cooking omelette, we have to use procedural text. A good procedural text will fulfill three general structures, they are:
  1. Goal: to tell the purpose of the text
  2. Material: the materials needed to achieve the purpose
  3. Method: steps to achieve the goal
In recipe texts, the material part usually contains ingredients needed, tools used and measurement of the ingredients. Moreover, in the last part of the text, the serving size of the recipe is usually added. However, it is optional.
